The aim of the competition is to develop the reasoning and public speaking skills of students from Years 5 to 12. All students involved in the challenge will receive a certificate acknowledging their participation.

Public Speaking

Campbelltown Performing Arts High School participates in the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Award which aims to encourage the use of clear and effective spoken English. Since its inception in 1995, the competition has provided an opportunity for NSW junior secondary students to improve their confidence and to develop their speech-writing and public speaking skills. Each school can enter a maximum of two contestants. All students involved in the competition will receive a certificate acknowledging their participation.

Writing Competitions

Students at Campbelltown Performing Arts High School have the opportunity to enter various writing competitions throughout the year.

Students may enter the What Matters? writing competition which is open to school students in years 5 to 12 from Australia. Responding to the simple question 'what matters?' entrants are free to express their views on any matter they care about. What Matters? is the perfect opportunity to empower students to raise their voices on issues that are important to them and know that their perspectives are valuable, no matter their age, background or viewpoint.  Entries can be fiction, non-fiction, poetry or prose of up to 600 words.

Students from years 7 to 12 also have the opportunity to enter the Insight Writing Competition. Entries must be a creative piece (e.g. short story, poem, script) written in English. The word length must not exceed 1400 words.  All entries must be accompanied by a 100-word statement that addresses your motivation for writing and/or the creative inspiration for your entry. Entries are judged by a panel of Insight staff and Australian authors.

These extra curricular activities are offered to all students at Campbelltown Performing Arts High School which strives to develop the critical and creative thinking skills of all students.
