It is assumed that students understand not only the rules but also the “spirit” of uniform as a means of unifying the school body and creating a positive impression within the community.
Students are expected to respect that spirit!
School uniform is compulsory by decision of the school community.
Students are expected to wear school uniform to and from school every school day.
Students are to wear the uniform so that it is neat and tidy.
In accordance with WHS requirements, excessive or large jewellery items, as well as unsafe facial and body piercings, are prohibited at school.
Students representing the school must be fully dressed in the school uniform, Sport or Performing Arts uniform as appropriate to the event that they are participating in.
Hats that provide sun protection are encouraged. Hats should be plain and free of graffiti.
Out of Uniform
At times students may be unable to wear the correct uniform and therefore must bring in a note of explanation from carers. They will be issued a green uniform pass by the supervising Head teacher during roll call.
- Students out of uniform without a note of explanation will be issued with a green uniform pass by the supervising Head teacher during roll call and may receive a detention.
- Students issued with a uniform pass are not to be:
- school office duty messengers
- permitted to attend school excursions
- involved in school presentations.
Sport uniform
Sport uniform can be worn all day by students in Years 9-10 on Thursdays.
On timetabled PDHPE practical days ALL students will bring their sport uniform and change at the beginning and end of the lesson.
Students should not wear sports uniform at any time other than during Sport or PDHPE classes or as outlined above.
For health and hygiene reasons, students must bring their sports uniform for PDHPE or Sport classes. They should change into their sports uniform before these classes and change back into their school uniform afterward. Sufficient time will be provided before and after class for students to change.
Performing Arts Uniform
Dance, Drama, Circus, and Music students are required to change into performance 'blacks' for class and then back into their school uniform afterward. If a student is unable to wear the correct attire for a legitimate reason, parents are asked to email the Head Teacher of the faculty and copy the class teacher on the email to provide an explanation. Handwritten notes from students will not be accepted. Black attire can be substituted for that period only.
Footwear – All students
WHS requirements are very specific. Students must wear shoes with a solid leather upper that covers the entire foot and has a non-slip sole. For safety reasons, especially in Science, Visual Arts, and Technology classrooms, the school uniform shoe must have a full leather upper covering the whole foot.
The shoe must be completely black, with no other colours permitted.
Below are examples of footwear that meet these requirements.
During Cold Periods
During cold weather, students may wear a white, grey, or black long-sleeved undershirt or black opaque stockings under their uniform. Additionally, CPAHS tracksuit pants are permitted each day in Terms 2 and 3.
